Cake
- 10oz (600g) sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/2 teasp cream of tarter
- 5 fl oz (150ml) milk
- 1 teasp bicarb of soda
- 4oz (120g) butter
- 12 oz (340ml) plain flour
- 1/2 teasp salt
- 7 1/2 fl oz (215g) boiling water
- 4oz (120g) melted choc
- 8 in deep tin
Cream butter and sugar, add egg and beat. Add dry ingredients to butter mix alternately with milk, beating well.Combine soda with boiling water, pour into batter and blend in. Add melted chocolate and continue beating well until well blended. Pour into tin, bake 350 deg F or 190 deg C for about 1 hour 20 mins.
Icing
- 2oz (60g) Butter
- 1oz (30g) cocoa
- 6oz (180g) icing sugar
- bit less than 2 tabs water
Melt butter in pan, beat in cocoa and water. Beat in icing sugar. Spread over
cake. Don’t let butter get too hot!
